Thesis: cloning technology can build the physical world, but it could destroy the ethical world.

Explanation: technology can build the physical world, just like human use technology to improve quality of our life. Everything has good and bad, as Cloning technology can improve our level of medical, but there are many controversies or disputes. For example, cloning human. We make a cloning human to save another human, but what about cloning human, he is a human too. What’s wrong with human’s ethical or moral? Will you blame yourself to kill another person to save yourself?

Positive values: people can use cloning technology to save some endangered species.

Negative values: cloning human is a major question about human’s ethical or moral.

Dear Ms. Newman:                        

       Thanks for teaching us writing as a writer. Throughout two months study, I learned many things. The most important knowledge that I learn is how to write ELA essay. ELA essay is a kind of essential skill in college. Other knowledge that I learned includes how to write an outlines, how to read an article and so on.

During these two months, we finished the two ELA essays. I realize I am good at organize the essay and find the quotation to support. In the other hand, I also need to explain more quotation to support my argument. The biggest problem that I have is poor grammar; I cannot express my opinion clearly. In order to deal with my poor grammar, I joined the workshop in writing center to help me improve my grammar skill.

As a student, I try my best to participate the group work, but I know I did not do well enough in the group work. After class, I almost finish all homework on time. Expect this homework, because the hurricane “Sandy” came, and there was not electricity and signal. As regards papers, I think they are not too bad; I try my best to work on it. According to this information, I will give myself a final grade as B+.

Once again I want to thank you for teaching me what I learned.

       I found good quotations to support my argument.

       I had a good organization.

2. What do you need to work on?

       I need to short my quotations.

       I need to give more explanation to develop my paragraph.

       I need to fix the grammar.

       I need to make the paragraph or my ideas more clearly, and make reader can understand it easily.

3. How you will use this knowledge to strengthen future essays?

       I will try to make my quotations become shorter and write more explanation into each paragraph. I will fix the grammar with writing center's help.

4. What grade would you have given yourself?

       I thought my grade should be B+ or A-. After I read the comment that professor wrote. I think my grade would be B.

Write a paragraph on your own blog explaining:

the ways that you read the article actively

how you think this active reading helped, did not help or hindered your understanding of the article

 

       When I pick up that article, I read the content first. Then I read the whole article, check vocabulary and try to understand what this article is about. After I finish reading first time, I understand this article is about cyberattack. Later, I read the question list, reread the article again and try to find some answer. When I was reading, I underline some important information. If I found some detail that I don’t understand, I will reread that paragraph again, and try to understand it. In order to find the answer of question, I reread the article several time. That is the way that I read the article.

       I think this active reading is helpful. It can make us understand the article deeply. For example, although this article only gives us Introduction and Conclusion, through content we can get some idea about what body paragraph talking about.

I am not sure. If I did not miss any step, I think the outline meet the criteria we discussed. It includes the thesis, topic sentence and simple detail.

2.      Would it have been more helpful to make the outline before writing the first draft or after? Why?

I think it’s helpful to make the outline after writing the first draft. Because when we are writing an essay, we will edit the essay many times. Sometime you will change the outline that you make before the first draft. If you make an outline after you finish the first draft, the outline can help you check your essay’s structure. And you can find some problem in your essay when you writing an outline. Thus, I think it is more helpful to make the outline after finish the first draft.
